Aha and Trauma in making shapely fiction! Week 8

My cousin and I have never gotten along. While some consider their family their biggest cheerleader, mine is my competition. Whether it be school, work, or relationship-wise I have always been competing against my siblings and cousins to be the best. My siblings are much older and well into their own lives so we don't compete in the same field. But my cousin and I were born on the same day. I should've considered him my twin considering how we grew up together but no. He has always tried to take what's mine from the minute we were born to prove he was better. This time, it wasn't a competition for me. I have finally found the love of my life, the one meant for me. The only problem is, she works in the city while I work 2 hours away. My cousin just so happens to be working in the same building as her. After tonight it wasn't going to matter though, I was going to ask her to marry me and I know she'll say yes. I drive on my way to the city ready to meet her for dinner when my cousin calls.

"What do you want Alejandro." I speed on the highway annoyed at his sudden call.

"Oh nothing cousin just wondering why your little girlfriend is leaving work so early?" he asks innocently but I can tell there's not innocent bone left in his body.

"She's getting ready to meet me, not that it's any of your business what she does." I can hear his chuckle through the phone.

"I see so she's going out on a little date, too bad it will be with me," he says slyly.

"Whatever you are up to I want you to end it now," I say aggravated. She wasn't game to me and I didn't want him involved in anything that had to do with her.

"Oh, how can I end it when our date hasn't even begun; such a shame she will be waiting for you at that very nice restaurant questioning your relationship when you never show up. I'll just so happen to be there and make her question everything she ever thought she had with you." He starts to laugh evilly like those villains do in movies and he sure is the villain in mine.

"I'm serious Alejandro don't-" right then he hangs up on me. I speed my way down the freeway going 80+ mph but in the back of my mind I know I won't make it. I pull out my phone and call her praying she'll pick up. But just my luck she's off getting ready probably leaving her phone by the door so she doesn't forget it like she always does. Pissed I throw my phone as I know he's probably staking out the restaurant already waiting for her to arrive any minute. As a last resort, I call my sister.

"Amelia I need your help," I rush out through the phone.

"What do you want Marcus I'm very busy-"

"Alejandro is about to steal my girlfriend and ruin my proposal," I cut her off.

"What? Alejandro is planning on ruining your proposal? Why would he do that? And since when did you have a girlfriend and since when did you decide to get engaged-"

"I don't have time to answer all your questions right now. If you had actually bothered to check up on me and be apart of my life you wouldn't be asking these questions now. So I think I'm gonna call in that favor of all of those years of ignoring me and have you go to my girlfriend's apartment and tell her not to go to the restaurant tonight." She takes a pause as thinks over everything I said. Coming to a realization that I'm right and she never bothered to stay close she finally agrees.

"Alright send me her address I'll leave now." With that, I hang up the phone and send her the address as I put my car on automatic. Even though my sister and I aren't close I still trust her as she is my blood sibling and knows she will do all in her power to make sure she doesn't leave her apartment. I still waste no time speeding down the highway to arrive at the restaurant. Alejandro needs to learn once and for all that I am not one to mess with.

As I arrive I hastily throw my keys to the valet and walk inside. I go to the hostess and tell her that the party for Marcus has arrived.

"Hello there Welcome to Blue Moon how many?"

"Party of 2 for Marcus but change it to a party of 1 for the bar and I won't be staying long." Without waiting for a reply I head straight in and take a seat at the bar right next to Alejandro. Slapping my hand harshly onto his boney shoulder I alert him that I have arrived.

"Well looks like you beat me here Alexandro," I say as he stares at me shocked. I flag down the bartender and order a scotch neat as I take a seat next to him.

"I thought you weren't coming how did you beat her here she left ages ago-"

"That's the thing, she's not coming." I take a slow leisurely sip from my drink and he tries to fit the pieces together.

"Ah, so you prevented her from coming here tonight. I'm not sure how you did it-"

"That's the thing, Alejandro. We may be from the same family but you surely didn't inherit the brains, so let me spell it out for you," I say as I slam my drink down and grab him by the back of the neck my finger directly on his pressure point, "you aren't going to come near her or me again. You are going to stay out of our lives or so help me I will push this pressure point hard enough so your legs never work again. I've had just about enough of you, all my life I've dealt with your taunting as you made everything a competition but I'm done with this petty feud you've created. Now I'm going to walk out of her and you aren't going to follow and leave us the hell alone from now on, or I'll make you regret ever testing me in the first place."

He takes a second to process my threat because again, not that much brains, but he finally takes a sip of his drink and shakes his head. I immediately drop my hand and walk out heading straight for the valet and surprisingly enough he doesn't follow, maybe he does have some brains. I get in my car and head straight for her apartment. It's now or never because no matter what I am proposing to her tonight.

week 5!

Write a scene on a page or two consisting only of dialogue between two characters. No idle chatter—something must be at stake.   "I don't see why we can't just go to war, our army is much stronger than the south and we would win and establish order once again." My father, the king, shakes his head and tells me how I know nothing. I had been preparing since birth for my place as king, I know what I am doing. "I don't understand the south will either secede or start a war with the north why not put an end to it now before any casualties," I try to reason with my father but he won't have it. He starts to explain the condition of the country like I don't already know myself. "Is this about our resources? or how our allies might view us for going to war with our own people? Because father I cannot for the life of me figure out why you won't prevent our country from going into ashes," I exasperate. He then stands from his seat and shout...
