Game Exercise! Week 1

Wonderlust

 One word you like

She has always wanted to travel. Being stuck in her small quiet hometown with the same old people weren't fulfilling enough. She went around seeing the same people that owned the local floral shop married to her teacher who also lived next door to her. It was a small town where everyone knew everyone and your business. She craved the opportunity to leave. Wonderlust you could call it. So when she started doing her own research on how to escape her small town she found a website that allowed students from America to attend university in Europe. She researched all about it and what kind of grades and expenses she would need to go. She didn't know when she was getting her acceptance into this program until a letter came in the mail.

Running

One word that (verb or gerund) that envokes a complex, troubling memory for you

Race tracks and hurdles were her peace. This is ironic considering that is when her adrenaline is up the most. But running has always been her escape, from her problems, troubles, and worries. Running is when she can forget about everything and just focus on taking those next steps ahead of her, just completing that next hurdle. Her friends sometimes say she runs too much, that she uses it as an excuse to run from the problems in front of her but really she thinks it gives her the most clarity. After running is when she feels most firm. This is why when she left at 7 pm to go running after that fight she could feel all that tension leave her body. That is until she missed that call when she was running now she will never look at running the same.

Wow

Song title

The grand glorious gala can only be described in one word; wow. It was everything I could ever dream of. The high ceilings filled with crystal chandeliers and walls decorated in fine velvet curtains. Along each wall stood historical pieces mostly containing status in all different eras of life. The floor on which my heeled feet walk is covered in fine plush carpeting in a silky golden color. But the entire feeling of the gala wouldn't be complete without the main stage that held the reason for the event in the first place. In a soft golden light stands a piece of artwork so captivating the only word anyone can say is, wow.

Brave

One adjective

Hunters and gatherers are renowned heroes that have been around for centuries. But the real heroes are the ones who tend to them. The brave woman that is forced to stay inside and serve at the ready of their own at a moment's need. Staying up long hours in worry and then when the time comes jumping at once to tend to whoever may need them. At this same time, keeping up the appearance of a calm, cool, collection. Being the most needed and not letting it affect you is the job. And being taken for granted is also the job. When you work long hours and they tend to those who have also worked long hours a day work is never done. The brave are the ones that stay behind and make sure the heroes are able to stay around for centuries.

Who?

Question

Who do we answer to? Who is the one we ask for help? Who is the one that shows us the way? All our lives the question of who lingers in the back of our minds. Still, we don't have the answer. We spend our entire lives trying to answer these burning questions and yet we never come close. Could the reason being there is no answer, or is there no right answer? We all live different lives, so shouldn't there be different answers to the same question? One question always brings forth another and in doing so a never-ending cycle of who continues. So should we seek out the answer or live our lives blindly?

Recess

One word that reminds you of your childhood

The best part of any school day is the part where learning is not involved. This being recess is the best part of the school. Playing with the friends you have in class and finally being able to tell them everything that's been pent up all day since yesterday. When kids can be kids and run around without a care in the world. Chasing boys and climbing on the monkey bars. And eventually sitting around sharing your secrets. Recess gives you a much-needed break from the pressure of being a kid and finally allowing yourself to be what you want with who you want.

The prefab story exercise! week 2

Rings to Hold “Beep beep beep.” The dreaded sound of a car horn announces that my sister from hell has arrived. My mother rushes out the door to greet her fiancee jumping into her arms. And I couldn’t blame them, although my new stepsister is a pain, her mother is amazing.  “Grace come outside and help grab some bags.” I leave the sanctuary of my room and walk headfirst into Sam holding her bags. “Watch it! God, I didn’t know you were such a clutz,” without even waiting for me to respond she pushes my shoulder and walks down the hallway. I don’t know where she is going since she has never been here before. Whipping my hair back I walk out to greet Alex my mom’s wife-to-be. She pulls me in for a hug kissing the top of my head. She pulls back and grabs my face and says, “Can you believe we are getting married this weekend!” I smile sweetly at her. “I sure can, we’ve been prepping for this for months and I’m glad we are finally done with all that work and can now move in to...

Using research to make your stories better! Week 14

Take a look at your novel and find a place where you can incorporate research—where you can use research to become even more precise in language and details Report how you plan to use the research in your story.  Some possible places to look: Story: the 18th rule- Takes place in a world where children are mute until they turn 18 where the government has to physically "turn on" their ability to speak. Landscape and setting--Flora and fauna-- Weather and Meteorology Normal world and setting with more advancements. The ideology of humans is still the same but they experience a new type of normal that includes them letting their government control them. I can research places in the world where the government is more strict. If they control their ability to speak they must have more strict rules surrounding what they can and can't do as well. I can research countries that are more government-controlled and see where else the government controls them. Character’...
